Charlie Hussey recalls a particular trip to Barking as a young man.
‘One Mothers’ Day, dad sent me and my sister to Barking with some money to buy flowers, we went there, but instead of flowers, we brought ice cream and spent all the money.
Returning home on the bus, we realised we were in trouble. We saw the house on the corner had some beautiful Tulips and Daffs, I jumped over the fence and picked a big bunch. Mother was thrilled to bits! Next day Mother went to the shops and all the neighbours were talking about the missing flowers. Were we in trouble!!! We had to take back the flowers and apologise.’ – CHARLIE HUSSEY
